Qlibri Nano Microscope Development

EIC Project

Qlibri's project QlibriNANO was selected for the prestigious EIC Transition grant from the European Innovation Council. Within this project, the company will develop the world's most sensitive absorption microscope, enabling new scientific discovery and innovation

Optical detection of nanoscale objects without relying on fluorescence is a current challenge due to their extremely weak interaction with light. Resonator-enhanced absorption microscopy is a novel tool to heavily boost the light-matter interaction. It combines highly sensitive, spatially resolved imaging with spectroscopy, offering a competitive alternative to established methods for the detection and analysis of nanoscale systems in nanotechnology, material design, and the life sciences.

We want to develop the world’s most sensitive absorption microscope, enabling the detection, imaging, characterization, understanding and development of nanoscale matter on a new level by its unique combination of fast and ultrasensitive hyperspectral imaging. QlibriNANO gives access to a so-far inaccessible area of information relevant for research fields like nanoparticles, optical coatings, thin films, among others, making the invisible visible for the first time. The innovation rests on the usage of an optical microresonator instead of a conventional objective. Qlibri’s unique blend of expertise, combining a profound know-how in microresonators and deep understanding of microscopy, particularly raster scanning techniques, has made it possible to make a technology transfer from Quantum optics to optical microscopy to develop QlibriNANO.

Applications

Nanotechnology

Analyze nanoscale matter on the single particle level. Speed up quality conrol and see the tiniest contamination.

High Power optical coatings

Ultra-high reflective mirrors for high power applications or ultra-low loss resonators can be analyzed for defects, absorption or wavefront errors.

Goals

Increase speed

Hyperspectral imaging in a few seconds
